Fiba appoints Jimmy Alapag Players Commission

The International Basketball Federation recently appointed former Philippine national men’s basketball team captain Jimmy Alapag to the FIBA Players’ Commission for the 2014-2019 term of office.

Alapag was one among the players who saw action during last year’s FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain, the first time the Philippines qualified and participated in the biggest basketball tournament in the world for the first time in over 30 years.

He has since retired from playing and is currently the team manager of the PBA’s Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters.

“I’m honored to be chosen as the player to represent our country on the FIBA Players’ Commission. I don’t know the exact details of the position, but I’m sure, I’ll know more in the coming week,” wrote Alapag in a text message to InterAksyon.com.

The FIBA Players’ Commission is chaired by former NBA player and Serbian basketball legend Vlade Divac.
